Housed in an old munitions facility on Nordhavn’s emerging main street, the new taproom marks the sixth and most personal installment from ÅBEN. When it came to designing the new space, founder Philip Hulgaard turned to his team to add a personal touch to their industrialised Japandi aesthetic. Here, strict lines of Japanese architecture juxtapose warm elements – like curated antique vases, artworks by ÅBEN’s in-house designer, and hand-sewn textiles. Meanwhile, 12 taps pour innovative drafts straight from their Kødbyen brewery. Open in time to catch the start of spring on the patio, this intimate addition to their lineup epitomizes the essence of the brewery powerhouse: constant evolution, distinctive design, and straight-from-the-brewery drafts.
WHAT YOU GET
Pick any two draft beers at ÅBEN in Nordhavn. Choose from 12 taps featuring beer brewed just a few kilometers away at ÅBEN’s brewery in Kødbyen. Sip Old Normz, an electric take on a West Coast IPA brewed in collaboration with Oddity Brewing in Barcelona, with notes of tropical fruits and evergreen. Have a hoppy and citrusy Diffuse Light New England DIPA with Citra, Azacca, Waimea, and Cryo Azacca hops. Get a refreshing sour, like Stolen Red Berries made with heaps of raspberries, currants, cherries, and blackberries. Taste ÅBEN’s first-ever brew, Bryg 61 New England IPA, which became an instant classic. Try Larch, a classic Vienna lager brewed with a carefully blended selection of malts and finished with Mittelfrüh hops, or A Bit Chilly, a silky Baltic Porter with expressions of dark winter fruits, molasses, and rich chocolate. Imbibe a full-bodied and fruity Circle Session IPA or a lightly sour and salty Mumbo Jumbo #1 Fruited Gose. Crush a bright and energetic Citrea, a dark and smoky Aecht Rauchbier, and more.
