5-course menu at Ripotot – Taste chef Mikkel Toftgaard Gregersen’s ‘small masterpieces’ at this French oasis in City Center that earned five hearts in Politiken
Formerly behind the pans at AOC, Chef Mikkel Toftgaard Gregersen also cooked alongside the renowned British chef Heston Blumenthal in London before opening up a buzzy place of his own back home in Denmark. Looking out over Store Kongensgade is Ripotot, a petite oasis in the center of the city with a seasonal French-inspired menu and an intimate atmosphere. Here, Toftgaard Gregersen’s team of skilled chefs uses French ingredients and techniques to create what Politiken referred to as ‘small masterpieces’. This is one of the few places in the city with two dishes to choose from for each course, so you can opt to share and try the entire enticing menu.
WHAT YOU GET
Enjoy a 5-course menu at Ripotot. The dishes on the menu rotate regularly and reflect the best produce of the season. There are two dishes to choose from for each course, so parties of two or more can taste the entire menu. Feast on fried chicken with creamy labneh and spicy green pesto, or seasonal vegetable tempura with smoked cod roe emulsion. Next, taste beef tartare with tonnato cream and radicchio, or white fish crudo with Sicilian blood orange, cucumber, and fresh chili. Have sweet cantaloupe and stracciatella drizzled with chili-infused honey, or a buttery cheese soufflé with braised leeks and comté cheese sauce. Savor juicy chicken thigh in sauce au jus with a side of silky carrot purée, or cod baked in herbed butter, served atop heirloom Cocco Bianco beans and champagne cream sauce. For dessert, indulge in a caramel cream-filled choux bun doused in Earl Grey chocolate sauce, or a freshly fried donut coated in mandarin sugar, topped with mascarpone cream and mandarin jam.

Wes Anderson found his muse for the movie ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ in Jura, France at a family-run place called Le Grande Hotel Ripotot, which also happens to be the inspiration behind the name of this small, captivating restaurant in the heart of Copenhagen. Here, refined French dishes are served in a romantic yet informal setting with charming decor and no bad seats in the house. The chefs are classically trained, the ingredients come from Denmark and France, and the location is hard not to fall in love with. In true French fashion, Ripotot is a restaurant that leaves you feeling both fulfilled and a little bit enamored.
