Here, the style is more about format and flavor rather than trying to fit a strict definition. The menu is eclectic, the dishes are meant to be shared, and the chefs don’t shy away from exotic spices. The understated interior is a mix of red concrete floors, stainless steel chairs, and warm wood tables, and the well-stocked bar and music ensure the vibe is always upbeat. Enjoy 10 servings at Cleo. The menu is chef’s choice, so dishes rotate regularly and reflect the best produce of the season. Start with snacks like crispy croquettes filled with taleggio cheese and smoked silken tofu topped with Japanese-inspired tare sauce, crunchy chili oil, and pickled cucumbers. Bite into signature grilled ‘pizza bread’ brushed with achiote butter. Taste Jerusalem artichoke with quince purée, pancetta vinaigrette, and walnuts, then try creamy labneh with tomato chutney, segmented orange, and crispy quinoa. Tuck into grilled polenta with wine-braised duck, parmesan cream, and pickled lingonberry. Eat endive salad with turmeric-mustard dressing, pickled Asian pear, and pecorino romano cheese. Have sautéed haricot verts in a sweet-and-sour nam jim sauce, topped with toasted garlic flakes. Get grilled emperor mushrooms with miso glaze and kimchi-garlic emulsion. At Cleo, a worldly team of trained chefs uses modern techniques and flavors to ensure every plate makes a statement. Their energetic, unconventional approach makes Cleo stand out, even in a city as rich in top-notch restaurants as Copenhagen. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the team behind it has a high-caliber history; Anders Strier cooked in the kitchens of Kong Hans, Geranium, and AOC, while Anders Vendelbo worked at Ved Stranden 10, Admiralgade 26, and No 2. They prefer to let the food and atmosphere do most of the talking, but luckily, Cleo isn’t afraid of being a little bit loud.
