Two taco combos at Hija de Sanchez in Carlsberg Byen – Founded by renowned chef Rosio Sanchez, these taquerias are among the world’s best and the newest location is next-level
In the heart of Carlsberg Byen, the smell of Mexican spices wafts from the historic Kedelhalle building as slow-cooked meats sizzle in their juices and fresh corn tortillas are cooked on the plancha. With features in the New York Times, Condé Nast Traveler, the World’s 50 Best Discovery, and many more, there’s no doubt – some of the best tacos in the world are right here in Copenhagen. It’s been nearly a decade since chef Rosio Sanchez opened her first taqueria, and this summer, she proudly opened the doors to one of the most stunning Hija de Sanchez locations yet. When the sleek wood-accented space is awash with light, the only thing brighter is the flavor of the tacos.

Tacos have been a staple in Mexican cuisine for hundreds of years, but it wasn’t until 2015 that Copenhageners got to taste the real deal thanks to chef Rosio Sanchez. What began as a single stall at Torvehallerne with a line down the block has since grown to a family of five taquerias and one Michelin-recommended restaurant. At Hija de Sanchez, fine-dining sensibilities meet the authentic spirit of a taqueria and Nordic ingredients meld together with a myriad of Mexican spices. Each location is a warm and inviting neighborhood spot you would never tire of visiting, which makes us all think – maybe it’s time to trade in our daily bread for our daily tortillas.
