Founded nearly 8 years ago, Fovl is the original member of the family that now includes Flere Fugle, Flok Kantine, and Lille Fugl. It all started with this hidden gem, and some would boldly say that Fovl helped make Nordvest the neighborhood it is today. The local regulars have stopped by almost religiously for years, but this small spot also has people traveling across the city for its second-to-none sourdough and cozy, intimate interior, among other things. Everything is homemade, from the food to the furnishings, and it’s the type of place where you feel right at home, whether you’ve visited once or a hundred times.

WHAT YOU GET

Pick whatever you like at Fovl in Nordvest. Stop by for breakfast, lunch, or an afternoon snack. Get your caffeine fix with La Cabra coffee, and pick from an enticing selection of pastries, which are all baked over at Flere Fugle. Start your day with a buttered up ‘BMO’, or opt for an omelet filled with sauteed Funga Farm mushrooms and tomato chutney. Dive into a Danish classic, like ‘Øllebrød’ made with rye bread from Flere Fugle, which gets topped with apple compote, whipped skyr, and toasted almonds. Try one of their sourdough toasts, like the Kimcheese, layered with housemade kimchi, gouda cheese, and goma mayo. Warm up with lentil minestrone, served with creme fraiche and a slice of sourdough. Snack on salted almonds, or get canned tuna from Grøndals with sourdough and fresh lemon. Wash it all down with a lemonade from Ebeltoft Gårdbryggeri or a To Øl beer. Order natural wine by the glass, or go ahead and get the whole bottle.
