Pick whatever you like at LÚA – Nourishing noodle soups and imaginative mooncakes made from scratch at this Vietnamese oasis in City Center
When the founder and former creative mastermind behind District Tonkin, Nickie Mydung, decided to launch her latest concept, she opened LÚA as a Southeast Asian-French inspired patisserie. While it proved successful, even earning 5 out of 6 hearts in Politiken, she decided to shift her focus more towards the food of her childhood – comforting Vietnamese classics. The new menu serves up savory noodle soups, hand-folded dumplings, and fresh noodle salads, along with the playful fusion pastries she’s become known for. In Vietnam, rather than asking ‘How are you?’, the more common greeting is ‘Are you hungry?’. If the answer is yes, step in and let LÚA take care of you.
WHAT YOU GET
Pick whatever you like at LÚA. Grab it to go or take a seat and stay a while. Choose the Char Siu Toast, with soy-honey pork roast and soft-scrambled eggs on homemade brioche bread. Go for the Steamed Gao, filled with minced chicken and tiger prawns, served in a vinegar-soy sauce. Slurp up spicy Bún bò Huế (lemongrass beef soup), with thin rice noodles, three kinds of beef, and a broth enriched by a paste of dried fermented shrimps, pineapple, onion, fresh chili, and lots of lemongrass. Don’t forget to peruse the colorful pastry case, where you’ll find delicacies like taro-chocolate-raspberry mooncakes and pistachio-yuzu-white chocolate cream-filled choux buns. Pair your selection with a Ginger and Honey Tea, Vietnamese Iced Coconut Milk Coffee, or Strawberry Latte. If it’s the evening, you can also grab a glass of wine or a beer. On Sundays there will be a surprise dish announced on the day, so stop by and see what’s on special.

‘Lúa’ literally translates to ‘rice grain’ in Vietnamese, but to Nickie Mydung, it also represents the many possibilities of turning something tiny and simple into many beautiful things. That is exactly what she embraces with the menu at her newly reimagined noodle bar. As she puts it, if the traditional Vietnamese Phở Bò (beef noodle soup) is the yin, then Bún bò Huế (spicy lemongrass beef soup) is the yang. At LÚA, it’s all about balance, so you can find both dishes on the menu, along with other savory and sweet Vietnamese specialties. Just a stone’s throw away from Kongens Nytorv, LÚA offers a soul-stirring and belly-filling experience that you won’t soon forget.
